Marion Werner is an expert on international trade, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. Her research is located at the nexus of critical development studies, feminist theory, and political economy.
Among other topics, Werner has studied the effect of free trade agreements on food production and diet in Latin America and Caribbean nations. She is interested in how trade policy can be improved to support goals such as reducing food insecurity, supporting small and medium farms, improving labor rights, and protecting the environment in developing countries.
